Step back in time with “The Automat,” the acclaimed documentary celebrating the iconic self-service restaurants that transformed American dining and became beloved gathering places for generations. An automat was a fast-food restaurant where food and drinks were sold from coin-operated vending machines with glass windows. Featuring charming stories from Mel Brooks, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and other notable voices, the film explores the history, culture, and nostalgia behind the legendary Automats. Following the screening, stay for a special Q&A with director Lisa Hurwitz, who will share insights into the making of this heartwarming and critically acclaimed documentary.
