Memories @ the MATT: “Poskas: Father and Son”
October 17 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeSponsored by the Connecticut Community Foundation, Part of our Brain Health Series
Join the Mattatuck Museum for a virtual tour and discussion of their exciting new exhibition: “Poskas: Father and Son”, which brings together the artwork of Waterbury natives Peter Poskas II and his son Peter Poskas III. Dedicated to realist still lifes before a life-altering accident, Poskas III has recently turned his attention to impressionistic views of the land, animals, and buildings surrounding his Washington, CT farm. The tour guide will use the pieces of art in the exhibition to foster discussion with participants around certain themes and topics that may remind the audience of aspects or moments in their lives.
A wide-ranging retrospective of late-career Poskas II, and mid-career Poskas III, this exhibition not only speaks to the body of work of both artists, but also tracks how their relationship has changed, grown, and deepened over time through the lens of their artwork. The MATT’s memory care tours are designed to give time and space for the audience to share their own experiences and feelings about pieces.
This program is virtual and takes place over Zoom. Registration is required. RSVP below. A link to the Zoom room will be sent out to registrants prior to the program. Cut-off for registration is Wednesday, Oct. 16th at noon. This program is dementia-friendly but open to all.
