In the late 1800s, five gruesome stabbing deaths of prostitutes occurred in London’s seedy East End. The unknown perpetrator came to be known as Jack the Ripper because several women were literally mutilated and their organs were ripped out of their bodies. To this day, Scotland Yard has not accused anyone of being the infamous killer. One man was considered a potential suspect – and his wife was convicted of poisoning him. After serving her jail term, she returned to her native United States and eventually settled in western Connecticut. However, she lived her incognito and nobody knew her identity until after she died. The question remains: was Florence Maybrick a murderer, and was her husband Jack the Ripper?
