The Burnham Library has the unique opportunity to host the Burnham School students for library time on the 1st and 3rd week of the month. Each child may check out two books during library time.
Wednesdays: Kindergarten, Grade 5 and Grade 4
Thursdays: Grade 3, Grade 1 and Grade 2 |

The 2011 Conneticut Nutmeg Children’s Book nominees are now available for circulation. The 2010 winners are Double Identity by Margaret Petersen Haddix and Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Check the official site for the complete tally of all the 2010 Nominees.
What is the Nutmeg Book Award? The Nutmeg Book Award encourages children in grades 4-8 to read quality literature and to choose their favorite from a list of ten nominated titles. Jointly sponsored by the Connecticut Library Association (CLA) and the Connecticut Association of School Librarians (CASL), the Nutmeg Committee is comprised of children’s librarians and school library media specialists who are members of our sponsoring organizations.

On March 19th, meet the kid who made “wimpy” cool, in a family comedy based on the best-selling illustrated novel “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney, the first in a series that has thus far sold 24 million copies. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” chronicles the adventures of wise-cracking middle school student Greg Heffley, who must somehow survive the scariest time of anyone’s life: middle school. On March 5, 2010, Tim Burton takes a stab at Lewis Carroll’s timeless tale of a young girl lost within a fantasyland with his production of Alice in Wonderland. Visit the library and borrow a copy of the traditional Alice in Wonderland. |
