Take Your Child to the Library Day

 Saturday, February 4th from 9:00 – 12:00 – Take Your Child to the Library Day. Join us in celebrating the first annual statewide celebration with a Family Fun Day! Parents and children are invited to stop in for snack, play a game or puzzle, join the scavenger hunt, make a book mark, visit our Thomas train table, or share a good book (or two). Movies, movies, movies! There are quite a few movies coming soon to theatres that are based on some fantastic books. Hugo, directed by Martin
Scorcese and based on the incredible Caldecott Award winning book The Inventions of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick is now in theatres. Another big fave in our library is the series of classic comic books by Herge called The Adventures of Tintin. Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are bringing it to the screen with the 3-D animated The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn on December 21st. And a remake of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, with the voices of Danny Devito, Zach Efron and Taylor Swift, will be in theatres March 2012. WOW! So, why don’t you come by and Read It Before You See It!
 
As we all begin our Harry withdrawals, our most dear friend, J.K. Rowling, has brought us a new adventure….. Pottermore. What is Pottermore? Well, simply put, it is an exciting new website that can be enjoyed alongside our cherished Harry Potter books. You can explore the stories like never before and discover exclusive new writing from the author. It is FREE to join and use, and is designed to be safe for people of all ages. Registration is required and is beginning soon.
